MADtv’s Orlando Jones Now Sorry for Palin Murder Tweet

Actor-comedian Orlando Jones is best known for being one of the original cast members of the television series MADtv and for his role as a 7Up spokesperson.

Unfortunately, he is currently more famous for his recent tweet.

After reports of the death of Muammar Qaddafi, Jones posted the following on his Twitter page: “Libyan Rebels kill Gaddafi, if American liberals want respect they better stop listening to Aretha & kill Sarah Palin (:”

The social media world responded with condemnation of Jone’s disgusting statement.  Read more...

Steven Seagal is Sworn In As a Real Life Border Cop

Real life and fictional Hollywood have once again melded together, this time in the Longhorn State.

Well-known entertainment figure Steven Seagal has taken on an actual law enforcement role on the nation’s border.

Those who are contemplating crossing the Rio Grande and illegally entering west Texas may now find themselves at the mercy of the action movie star.

Seagal, who incidentally has experience serving as a Louisiana police deputy, recently sought out a position patrolling the U.S.-Mexican border. He was sworn in last week in Hudspeth County, which is located along the Rio Grande east of El Paso.  Read more...

Kanye West Visits Occupy Wall Street Protestors

Kanye West paid a recent trip to the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City.

Just in case anyone might mistake him for being part of the non-wealthy “99%,” when the rapper arrived he sported a designer shirt worth several hundred dollars, a pair of $1,000 jeans, and lots of bling to complement his gold and diamond crowned teeth.

West is one of numerous celebrities to have turned up at the anti-capitalist protests. Other famed figures who have appeared alongside the disgruntled group include Susan Sarandon, Michael Moore, Russell Simmons, Penn Badgley, and Talib Kweli.  Read more...

George Clooney’s ‘Ides’ Has Mediocre Debut

George Clooney’s latest movie, “The Ides of March,” debuted over the weekend and left Sony studio execs scratching their heads over the less-than-expected box-office take of $10.4 million.

Audiences weren’t exactly raving about the film either, but they still liked it enough to grant it a “B” at CinemaScore. By comparison, “Reel Steal,” the weekend’s #1 box-office movie, hauled in $27.3 million and scored an “A.”

After decent reviews from critics and a warm reception at the Venice and Toronto film fests, Sony executives were expecting a lot more from “Ides.” But now future hopes of profitability rest with the awards that the film may potentially garner.  Read more...

Steve Jobs Mourned by Hollywood

Last evening’s sad news of the passing of 56-year-old Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has reverberated throughout the streets of Hollywood, the famed town in which the visionary had an enormous impact and left an indelible mark.

Jobs was a major power player in the entertainment world, still serving on Disney’s board of directors in his latter days, where he continued to be integral in guiding Disney and Pixar’s animation decisions.

The inimitable icon is responsible for changing the landscape of the movie business. In 1986 he purchased a technology company, The Graphics Group, from a division of Lucasfilm Ltd. for $10 million. The company underwent a name change and emerged as Pixar.  Read more...

Hollywood Celebrities Voice Support for Wall Street Protest

A group calling itself “Occupy Wall Street” was involved in a protest march this past weekend in which some of its participants blocked passage to the famed Brooklyn Bridge.

Predictably, the activist action resulted in the arrest of more than 700 protestors.

Demonstrations, which have chiefly focused on New York financial firms, began last month with participants seemingly engaged in an imitation of the prior protests that occurred in Europe.

The group’s website, occupytogether.com, is a prime vehicle for the promotion of the U.S. protests. The site identifies Occupy Wall Street’s main goal as “ending the greed and corruption of the wealthiest 1% of America.” Similar nationwide affiliated protests are evidently part of the group’s long-range plans.  Read more...
