As the entertainment industry seeks a greater presence in China’s ever-increasing movie market, the Obama administration is investigating some of the major Hollywood film studios for possible inappropriate payments to Chinese officials.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has sent letters of inquiry, seeking to obtain answers about whether or not some major Hollywood movie studios tried to buy their way into what is quickly becoming the world’s largest entertainment market.

Reuters, the New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times, all of which are citing anonymous sources, have reported that the SEC sent inquiries to 20^th Century Fox, Disney, and DreamWorks Animation.  Read more...

In 2009 President Barack Obama made history as the first sitting U.S. president to appear on a late-night talk show when he sat on Jay Leno’s couch as a guest of “The Tonight Show.” A return visit to the Leno show was made in 2011.

The president has continued to blur the lines between politics and entertainment and holds the distinction of having made a sizable number of television appearances as president, which include “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Colbert Report,” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” “The View,” the “George Lopez Show,” and even the Discovery channel’s “Mythbusters” show.  Read more...

Jennifer Lawrence, the newly minted Hollywood superstar of the blockbuster film “The Hunger Games,” recently made some distinctly right-of-center remarks in an interview that appears in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

Lawrence, who in “The Hunger Games” plays archer warrior Katniss, spoke about a scene in “Winter’s Bone,” a movie in which she previously appeared, which has her gutting a squirrel.

Addressing the issue of whether or not the scene had been created by Hollywood special effects, Lawrence let her feelings be known about the animal rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).  Read more...

Along with Steven Spielberg, Gerald R. Molen has produced a string of successful and memorable Hollywood movies including the Oscar-winning “Schindler’s List.”

In contrast to Spielberg, who is a strong supporter of President Barack Obama, Molen has produced a new anti-Obama film, “Obama’s America: 2016,” which will be released at the kick-off of the general presidential election season.

Molen’s documentary is based on author Dinesh D’Souza’s book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage,” and features the following marketing slogan: “Love Him Hate Him, You Don’t Know Him.”  Read more...

In a stunning turn of events, on Tuesday Katie Couric will take the anchor chair of ABC’s “Good Morning America” in a morning show ratings competition against Sarah Palin, who will guest host on rival NBC’s “Today” show.

The A.M. TV battle places the two public figures as guest hosts in the same time slot and will be the first time that their names appear in the media together since Couric’s infamous interview of then-GOP vice presidential candidate Palin.  Read more...
