Jon Voight: A Hollywood Rebel

As most folks know full well, Jon Voight is a multi-nominated and Academy Award winner as well as a four-time Golden Globe recipient, whose sterling career has spanned the decades.

The actor also happens to be an exception in today’s celebrity world in that he is one of those rare independent-minded thinkers.

Voight came to prominence in the late 1960s with his Oscar nominated performance in the iconic movie “Midnight Cowboy.”

During the 1970s, he cemented his brand as a genuine Hollywood A-lister with starring roles in the films “Deliverance,” “Coming Home,” and “The Champ.”

He took the Best Actor Oscar for his role in “Coming Home,” after having been nominated for the award three times prior.

In an interview on a recent episode of Lisa Boothe’s podcast, Voight was direct in his description of the current state of so-called journalism, as practiced by today’s compromised media.

“… this is just like Pravda. There’s no difference,” Voight said.

The actor also opined that if one happens to be a reader of The New York Times, then what is being ingested is nothing but “phony stuff.”

Voight has firsthand experience in dealing with what those in the news media and various other subdivisions of society are promulgating. He himself has been the recipient of some intense peer pressure as well as a sizable degree of wrath from a cancel culture that has run amok.

Still, he chooses to live and work in one of the most “woke” places on the planet, the ever-tilting Left Coast.

Voight envisions a simple way in which folks can counter the press distortion that is taking place each and every day. He encourages a more pro-active approach to the exercise of freedom with regard to news and entertainment choices.

“There are many brave people that are stepping up and very brave teachers who are in the industry, the entertainment industry, and in the…news industry that are stepping up and giving us a direction. So we have to find those people and stick with them and support them,” Voight stated.

His willingness to speak what is on his mind has not inhibited his ability to continue in his chosen artistic profession. Voight is currently in New Haven, Connecticut, filming a feature-length finale of the hit series “Ray Donovan.” It is a production that almost didn’t happen.

“Ray Donovan” is a Showtime television crime drama series. The storyline centers around the main character of the series’ title, who is portrayed by Liev Schreiber.

Donovan is a professional “fixer” for the rich and famous. He can make anyone’s problems disappear; that is, except those that are created by his own family.

Voight plays Mickey Donovan, Ray’s conniving father.

When the pilot episode first aired in June 2013, it was the biggest premiere Showtime ever had. For his work on the show, Voight was awarded a Golden Globe in 2014 for Best Supporting Actor.

Then in February 2020, after seven successful seasons, the cable network abruptly announced the cancellation of the series, which brought frustration to viewers of the show, particularly because several plot points were left unresolved.

The unusual decision to cancel the series was reportedly done for political reasons. It all happened amid the merger between CBS (owner of Showtime) and Viacom. Showtime seemingly “did not recognize the power of the fan base and social media.”

Fan power ultimately won out. In February 2021 it was announced that the show was returning in the form of a feature-length movie, which is set to premiere in 2022. The new film version picks up where season seven left off.

This was great news for Voight, who once again is back in front of the Showtime cameras.

Voight, of course, has a famous daughter, mega-movie actress in her own right, Angelina Jolie. What folks may not know is that Voight’s family also includes brother James Wesley Voight, who goes by Chip Taylor, a singer-songwriter with the hit tunes “Wild Thing” and “Angel of the Morning” to his credit.

Voight’s view of faith and family may have been shaped by his Catholic Christian background and his attendance at a Catholic high school.

In 2019 he said that God is asking Americans to protect the values of family during these times.

“Family is being attacked by people who are really trying to tear down the fabric of our society,” Voight told The Christian Post.

“Imagine, God’s asking us to help Him out. Can you imagine? That’s the greatest thing!” he said.

The actor then quoted Scripture.

“‘Who will go for me,’ says God to Isaiah, and he says ‘send me.’ There are many people who are really strong people, very bright people and very good people who have said, ‘send me.’ That’s why I have to think that there’s no doubt of that. It’s all been written: we will win the battle,” he said.

“…we know it’s hard but this battle will be won by those who pursue the truth; they will prevail,” Voight added.

In July 2020 he posted a video on his Twitter account in which he speaks of the greatness of America as a precious providential gift. It was characterized by some in the establishment press as a religious rant.

“God the Almighty gave all this to us, so we as a civilization with all our greatness must give back and we shall protect the USA with God, and He who understands this Liberty must protect as well,” Voight states.

He then calls for a return to fundamental principles that have undergirded American life.

“Let us all protect this beautiful nation,” Voight says, adding, “Let us all give back. We must not take for granted this breath we breathe, because without God’s love, we would not be here. So bring back faith and trust.”

I see Voight as a Hollywood rebel with a cause, one for which America can be grateful.

True Lies about Socialism

The truth is socialism is a sham.

It is a system of government that has never worked and never will.

Dig deep and what you find at its core is a state sanctioned bully, the nature of whom may differ in size, shape, and matter but the character of whom always remains the same.

In the world of socialism, intimidation is the tool of preference, oppression the end game, and insecurity the most valuable weapon. Operating under the guise of official authority, the bully determines what is best for a people and what will be imposed, be it gently or vigorously, upon the lives of those who have been swept up in its initial allure.

History is the truth teller who relays the story to anyone that cares to listen of how socialism has been tried time and time again and how time and time again the sham system has failed. The victims of the former Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela, and countless other countries across time bear the battle scars of souls who silently suffered and bore the weight.

Socialism sucks the lifeblood from a nation and its individuals. It confiscates property, finances, and resources and offers the promise of security in exchange for personal freedom. The first true lie in a series of many to come.

Above is a mere sampling of the deception by which socialism secures its prey. The good news is that, in the presence of freedom’s light, socialism’s darkness doesn’t stand a chance. This July 4 some people will be gathering to celebrate liberty. Others will be gathering to herald a system that is antithetical to all that is good about America.

Actor Jon Voight recently revealed on the Fox News Channel that he will appear at an event on Independence Day titled the “Rally for Freedom.”

In part as a response to the Democrat Party’s acceptance of so-called democratic socialism, the Oscar-winner plans to stand alongside Gold Star families at a rally, which will be held on the U.S. Capitol lawn to celebrate freedom and reject socialism.

The group “Moms for America” is bringing Gold Star wives and mothers to Washington, D.C. to attend the rally.

As the Moms for America website states, the term Gold Star is “a recognition given to an immediate family member who has lost a loved one in military service. Gold Star wives have lost their husband in the line of duty, Gold Star mothers have lost their son or daughter. Gold Star children have lost a parent.”

While appearing alongside Gold Star mom Karen Vaughn, Voight explained, “There’s no greater honor than to stand with these moms who have lost their loved ones who sacrificed for our country, for our freedoms, and who love and honor and respect our nation.”

Vaughn’s son, Navy SEAL Aaron Carson, gave his life for our country in 2011. During his appearance, Voight remarked on the anti-socialist purpose of the rally.

“If they knew anything about the Second World War, they’d know that socialism is a disaster. It’s never produced anything anywhere in the world. It’s an economic sinkhole, but it also produces nothing but misery and violence,” the actor said.

A primary purpose of the rally is to take a solid position against socialism, as the Moms for America website states in the following:

“We are watching in shock as our culture increasingly embraces socialist ideology and our nation rapidly moves toward a socialist state. But Moms for America is taking a bold stand to counter this dangerous movement and send a powerful message to those who think they can change our form our government—Not on Our Watch!”

Ironically, on the very same day in Chicago at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place hotel, the Socialism 2019 Conference is set to begin. According to the event website, the multi-day conference will bring together “socialists and radical activists from around the country to take part in discussions about Marxism, working-class history, and the debates and strategies for organizing today.”

The event is described by organizers in the following manner:

“In a moment of rising class struggle, resurgent social movements, and the growing popular appeal of socialism, the Socialism 2019 Conference is an important gathering space for today’s left.”

Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders popularized a re-branded label for the failed system, by using the phrase “democratic socialism.” It has a number of Americans, particularly younger voters, hoodwinked into thinking that socialism is somehow an acceptable alternative to our longstanding form of government. Unfortunately, many of the other candidates currently running in the Democrat presidential primary have also embraced Sanders’s ideas.

Socialism will always carry with it the stench of its history.

But on this July 4, and on each day and place in America where freedom boldly rings, the air is fragrant and sweet, and the gratitude to those who paid the highest price is beyond measure.

Jerry Seinfeld Sued over Sale of Alleged Fake Porsche

Jerry Seinfeld has just been sued over claims that he sold a company a rare vintage Porsche Carrera sports car that allegedly turned out to be a counterfeit.

The lawsuit against Seinfeld alleges that when the comedian auctioned off the classic car for a winning bid of $1.54 million, he knew that it was “not authentic.”

Seinfeld’s lawyer, Orin Snyder, has denied the claims and called the suit “frivolous.”

An entity called Fica Frio Limited bought the vehicle in March of 2016 at an auction that took place in Amelia Island, Florida. Seinfeld himself was allegedly in attendance at the auction.

In a complaint filed in a Manhattan federal court, the car is identified as a 1958 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster, which was sold at an auction that featured the “Jerry Seinfeld Collection” of cars. The lawsuit quoted Spike Feresten, who was the host at the auction.

Feresten also happens to be a former writer-producer for the “Seinfeld” television show and, as host at the auction, used a punch line that referenced the iconic sitcom.

“Jerry has been generous enough to let me drive an awful lot of his collection,” Feresten said. “And I can tell you: They’re real and they’re spectacular.”

Seinfeld’s current hit Internet show, “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” displays his passion for classic cars combined with his love of stand-up comedy.

The auction summary of the Porsche indicated that it was “From the Jerry Seinfeld Collection” and was a “stunning example of a rare thoroughbred Porsche.”

The 1958 Porsche was marketed at the auction as “one of 56” with “lightweight aluminum panels,” according to the suit.

“This exceptionally rare 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster is surely among the finest restored examples of a highly sought-after four-cam Porsche,” the marketing material indicated.

Between 1955 and 1959, Porsche built 151 Carrera Speedsters, and less than 60 percent of the cars had the GS/GT trim that the plaintiff believed the car possessed.

According to the lawsuit, a year later in March of 2017, Fica Frio had the car evaluated by a Porsche expert who determined that it was “not authentic.”

The suit quotes a voicemail that Seinfeld allegedly left for the buyer in June of 2018.

“[I want to] offer my apology for this nuisance and assure you that you will be completely indemnified in full and not have to keep the car and get all your money back,” Seinfeld purportedly said. “I did want to apologize to you personally for that happening.”

The comedian allegedly added that his experts never suspected there was anything wrong with the car, according to the suit.

Seinfeld also purportedly said that he “would also love to know how your guys figured it out because…my guys did not I guess see anything amiss with the car when I bought it.”

Fica Frio claims that Seinfeld has not paid back the money, and the company desires to rescind the sale, giving the car back to Seinfeld, with the purchase price going back to the buyer. Perhaps even more important to settlement discussions, the lawsuit seeks punitive damages from Seinfeld, which in theory may be considerable.

According to Seinfeld’s attorney, “Jerry has been working in good faith to get to the bottom of this matter. He has asked Fica Frio for evidence to substantiate the allegations. Fica Frio ignored Jerry and instead filed this frivolous lawsuit.”

The attorney added, “Jerry consigned the car to Gooding and Company, an auction house, which is responsible for the sale. Nevertheless, Jerry is willing to do what’s right and fair, and we are confident the court will support the need for an outside evaluator to examine the provenance of the car.”

Determining the authenticity of vintage cars is not as cut and dried as it would appear. The vast majority of civil suits end in some sort of settlement between the parties.

In an interesting little twist, one classic episode of “Seinfeld” deals with a plot line that bears a resemblance with regard to the “authenticity” theme.

The George character on the TV show is about to purchase a 1989 Volvo sedan, but the car salesman talks him into buying a 1989 LeBaron convertible instead. The smooth talking salesman is able to get George to believe that the vehicle was previously owned by famed actor Jon Voight.

It turns out that the car was indeed owned by a Mr. Voight, who was not an actor but rather a periodontist, and happened to bear the same first name but with the alternate spelling of “John.”

As Seinfeld, via his attorney, attempts to obtain some leverage for the negotiation process, he might ask Jerry how George handled his bad “Voight” deal.

Hollywood Has a Meltdown over Roe v. Wade Film

“You can’t handle the truth!”

The memorable line by Jack Nicholson in “A Few Good Men” fits like a glove.

When it comes to subject matter that is outside the leftist box, Hollywood just can’t endure any factual information coming to light, as witnessed by the massive overreaction by the entertainment elite to a pro-life project that is currently in production.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film, which deals with the backstory of the landmark decision that legalized abortion in America, Roe v. Wade, is being shot in Louisiana. Its working title is “1973,” a reference to the year of the Supreme Court decision that polarized the nation.

The left is particularly rattled over the abortion issue right now since President Donald Trump is naming a conservative nominee to the Supreme Court.

Nick Loeb, a banking heir who formerly dated actress Sofia Vergara, is directing the movie and began filming in mid-June. He told the Hollywood Reporter that his court battle with Vergara over access to the couple’s frozen embryos prompted him to do the film.

“I have my own pro-life issue going on with my fight over embryos, but no one has really told the whole truth about Roe v. Wade in a film,” Loeb said.

Aware of the disdain that the entertainment industry has for the pro-life perspective, Loeb initially attempted to be low key about the project, cast and crew so as to forestall the backlash that would inevitably come.

However, when Loeb told LifeNews about his motivation behind the film, he left subtlety behind. “This is the untold story of how [abortion activists] lied and manipulated Jane Roe, the media, and the courts into the decision to allow abortion in 1973,” Loeb said.

In knee-jerk fashion, the entertainment press began trashing the film, despite the project not having been completed, edited, or screened.

–The Daily Beast published a piece with the headline “‘Roe v. Wade’ Script Leak: Pro-Life Movie Pushes Conspiracy Theories and Lies.”

–A Huffington Post headline read “Anti-Abortion Movie About Roe v. Wade Is Pushed By Nick Loeb.”

–The New York Daily News used the following title for an article on the movie: “No one wants to help Nick Loeb make his anti-abortion film ‘Roe v. Wade.’”

Particularly snarky was the Daily Beast’s characterization of the project as a “movie in chaos,” describing cast and crew departures due to the nature of the subject matter. And the Hollywood Reporter indicated that a costume maker, electrician, and director had walked off the project.

The subject matter also created difficulties for Loeb’s choice of filming locations. Loeb shared the following about a request that was made to shoot at Louisiana State University: “We were told we were rejected due to our content, even though it will be a PG-rated film. They refused to put it in writing, but they told us on the phone it was due to content.”

Even after the production was permitted to use a local synagogue, the crew was kicked out after the leaders found out about the movie’s message.

“Once they found out what the film was about, they locked us out. We had to call the police so that the extras and caterers could retrieve their possessions,” Loeb told the Hollywood Reporter.

Facebook blocked crowdfunding for the film, but it is still ongoing at GoFundMe and IndieGoGo.

The Daily Beast obtained a copy of a leaked script that reportedly showed the project’s “severe anti-abortion stance.” The Beast is apoplectic that the narrator of the story is Dr. Bernard Nathanson (portrayed by Loeb). Nathanson happens to have co-founded the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL). However, after having witnessed the details of an abortion procedure via ultrasound, he became a dedicated pro-life activist.

Nathanson became an archenemy of the left after having narrated the profoundly compelling 1984 pro-life film “The Silent Scream.”

The cast of the upcoming pro-life movie includes many openly conservative Hollywood residents including Stacey Dash, who portrays Dr. Mildred Jefferson, a founder of the National Right to Life Committee; Jon Voight, Robert Davi, Corbin Bernsen, John Schneider, William Forsythe, Wade Williams, Richard Portnow, and Jarrett Ellis Beal, who portray Supreme Court justices; and Jamie Kennedy, Joey Lawrence, and Greer Grammer (daughter of Kelsey Grammer) are also cast members.

Adding to the left-wing discomfort are some cameos courtesy of commentators Tomi Lahren and Milo Yiannopoulos.

The film’s executive producer is pro-life advocate Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr.

“This big screen movie is the real untold story of how a mountain of lies led to an injustice that deprived millions of people of human dignity and human rights,” King says in the trailer.

The untold story includes Planned Parenthood’s scheme to recruit a pregnant girl to file a lawsuit that would create a right to an abortion. According to the film’s description, Nathanson, Betty Friedan and Planned Parenthood searched “the country to find a pregnant girl” that they could “use to sue the government for her right to have an abortion.”

The film also takes on the forbidden facts concerning the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger. Despite the left’s attempts to minimize Sanger’s fondness for eugenics, Sanger solicited eugenicists’ writings for her conferences, asked them to testify in congressional hearings, and gathered them together to advance the cause.

Sanger also urged state-imposed compulsory sterilization and segregation of people with mental or physical disability, those in poverty, and those considered illiterate. She sought out eugenicists to become board members of her American Birth Control League, the predecessor organization to what is now known as Planned Parenthood.
